TESTING CURRICULUM FOR NON-MASTER CANDIDATES

Please understand, that all candidates are expected to be proficient in the entire curriculum of Uechiryu. Below is the minimum of what everyone should be expecting to perform at testing time.

• Kata:

  • Level One: Sanchin, Seichin and Seisan

  • Level Two: Sanchin, Seisan and Seirui

  • Level Three: Sanchin and Kanchin

  • Level Four: Sanchin and SanSeiRu

  • Shodan: Sanchin (with Full Testing) and Seisan

  • Nidan: Sanchin (with Full Testing) and Seirui

  • Sandan: Sanchin (with Full Testing) and Kanchin

  • Yondan/Godan: Sanchin (with Full Testing) and SanSeiRu

• Seisan Bunkai (Level Three, Level Four and All Adult Ranks)

• Kumite

  • Level One: Kyu Kumite

  • All other Ranks: Dan Kumite

• Hojo Undo (Secondary Exercises)

• Free Style Sparring Performed at individual dojos

  • Junior Levels - One through Level Three

  • Adult Candidates - Shodan through Sandan

• Kotekitae (Body Conditioning – Shodan, Nidan and Sandan)

• Association approved Written Test

• Ages

  • Juniors: Maximum age of seventeen years old by June 1st of the testing year

  • Adults: Minimum age of fifteen years old by June 1st of the testing year

• Minimum Practice Time in the Martial Arts by June 1st of the testing year

  • Level One: Four

  • Level Two: Six

  • Level Three: Eight

  • Level Four: Eleven

  • Shodan: Three

  • Nidan: Five

  • Sandan: Seven

  • Yondan: Ten

  • Godan: Fifteen
